FIP Porte — From the Forest to the Door

Sustainability

Every door that leaves our plant carries a supply chain with it. Our choice is to make it traceablewood FSC® Certificate, recycled or from other controlled sources, water-based lacquers and a production cycle that remains all to Capo d'Orlando.

Chain of custody

The timber we use can be traced back

Our doors are made with FSC®-certified materials, recycled and/or from other controlled sources.

The certification FSC® Chain of Custody ensures that the wood supply chain we use is traceable and hold a responsible forest management, verified by independent third-party evaluations.

It is not a declaration we can write ourselves: it is an inspection that someone else comes to carry out, every year, on our records and our suppliers.

Materials

The choices behind every door

  • 01

    Certified, recycled, or controlled wood

It is the category FSC Mixed, that which is written in black and white on our certificate: raw material FSC® certified, recycled or coming from other verified sources. And the chain does not stop with us: even our suppliers have a FSC or PEFC chain of custody on their behalf.

  • 02

    Frame, thread covers and insignia

Body in solid fir, frame in HDF water-repellent 3 mm thick, water-repellent HDF patches mounted using a folding. These are materials chosen to last: high mechanical strength and protection against moisture. A door that does not warp is a door that does not need to be replaced, and that is the greatest saving of all.

  • 03

    The atmosphere in the house

Lacquer finishes use water-based paints instead of solvents, in our indoor paint booth. The paint we use has passed the tests. Eurofins for the Minimum Environmental Criteria for building, and the panels are made of Class E1 due to formaldehyde emissions. Fewer volatile substances in the air at workshop, where our carpenters work, and fewer in the air in your home.

  • 04

    Custom-made, so no leftovers

Every door is born on opening measurements where it will go. There are no custom-fitting cuts in the works or leftover pieces because the standard size was not right: the wood that enters production is just what is needed, and that is all.

  • Solar energy

One photovoltaic system powers part of the production with clean energy, reducing the CO₂ emissions associated with every door leaving the warehouse.

  • Interior water-based painting

The paint booth it is internal to the plant and works with water-based paints. Keeping this phase in-house means being able to control it, not just hoping the supplier will do so.

  • All in a single plant

Design, engraving, painting, and assembly take place at Capo d'Orlando, in a single cycle 100% (internal). Fewer transfers between subcontractors mean fewer transports and less waste.
